Long time no see? Well, I’m sure you’re thinking that after the last avocado toast post there was nothing more to add to this blog. Well, even though #avotoastsarelife, there are other reasons. Have you ever tried to do your laundry but on the way to the washing machine a sock falls out and then you bent down to gather the sock and then a bra falls out as well and then you try to pick it from the floor and another sock falls out and when you finally have everything in your hands and you try to continue your way to the washing machine because you just want to do your laundry and get on with your life you hit your head with a piece of furniture and that hurts so much that you inevitably touch your head and therefore the perfect pile of dirty laundry collapses and all the socks fall out all over the floor? Well, that has been our life lately.

So between work, appartment search, family issues and lots of “other socks” falling out of our hands everyday there has been no moment for blogging. And with all the crazyness that has surrounded us these last weeks, each moment of piece and quiet has been much appreciated. So every night, after a difficult or very difficult day, I’ve been taking my time to cleanse my face and spend a few minutes in silence. I’ve enjoyed those erase my day from my face moments so much that I’ve been trying new products and, of course, I’m about to share them with you.

(Longest introduction for a post ever)

Let’s start with the Pixi x Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse (Again, I’m really late to the party, I know). It has became one of my favourite products to cleanse my face with. First you use the oil, massage your skin, rinse it off, and then you repeat the process with the cleansing cream. It feels soft and delicate and wonderful. I really, really like it. It doesn’t have a proper scent but it reminds me a little bit of olive oil, which I love. My face doesn’t feel tight and dry after using it, on the contrary it feels nourished. The two step cleanse takes a little bit of time extra but since you can use it all over your face, including eyes, you skip the eye makeup remover.

Which leads me to the Lancôme Bi Facil Instant Cleanser for Sensitive Eyes. I bought it following a recommendation of this nice lady, and it’s fantastic and gentle, which is really important for me, since I’m old and my eyelids have started looking like old Egyptian parchment. If there’s one makeup product that I can’t live without is mascara and this eye cleanser makes mascara go away easily. It’s not miraculous, but does a truly instant mascara remover even exists? If it does please leave it in the comment section.

Finally I got to try the über famous Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel! After two years reading wonderful reviews (again, late to the party) I decided to give it a go. First, I don’t love the scent as much as I thought I would because everyone was raving about the scent and for me it’s nice but not amazing, I mean it’s your average scent. However, all the other wonderful reasons you’ve read or heard to buy and use this product are absolutely true. It’s gentle, soft and feels great on the skin. It’s fantastic. Just one snag: you can’t use it on your eyes, so you will need another product to cleanse your eye makeup. That’s why I bought the Lancôme Bi Facil.

And last but not least, an oldie but goodie: the Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel. I’ve talked about it before, because it’s been part of my bedtime routine for years. It’s gentle (key word!), smells really nice, leaves my face fresh and nourished and it actually melts your makeup in no time. Plus you can use it for your eye makeup as well. As soon as you massage your face with it you turn into a panda / 90’s Courtney Love / Dalí melting watch and after a few seconds, your skin will be clean. That’s perfect for those days when you are extremely tired and just want to go to bed or have dinner on the sofa while watching Suits or fall into a coma as quick as possible.

So, even though I’d repurchase all these products and I like them all very much, my heart belongs to the Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel. It’s the one that feels indulgent but has the best arriving at home – pijama ready time ratio, it has a sensible price tag and smells lovely. Oh, admit it! You kow I was going to go for Clarins. I’m addicted to this brand and we all know it.

Now excuse me, I have to keep picking socks from the floor…
